Laser Tag March Madness

Laser Tag March Madness

September 2, 2013

Most of Astro Jump’s business is related to moonbounces, carnival games, concession machines and other whacky inflatables. As we have also mentioned in previous posts, however, we also provide mobile laser tag. What is the difference between mobile laser tag and traditional laser tag? Traditional laser tag is performed inside an enclosed space with plenty of neon and black lights. Outdoor laser tag, or mobile laser tag, is usually played outside. We come to your location and depending on which laser tag package you choose, set up an area for laser tag with camouflage obstacles or use the area you provide us to run laser tag games. Most of the time outdoor laser tag is a team sport, with each team (Alpha and Bravo) competing against each other for ultimate victory.

Many of our outdoor laser tag events are birthday parties for children from 7 to 18. Our equipment enables us to change the types of games we play and the difficulty of each game depending on who is playing. For example, an 8 year birthday party might have two teams of excited children eager to pull the trigger. These types of groups typically do best with traditional outdoor laser tag games like team elimination. The rules are easiest and games like this allow for the most amount of laser tag to be played. Adult games, however, take on a different note and are always more specialized. In an adult game friendly fire is typically activated, the number of lives each player has is decreased and the types of games can be changed based on the group’s interests. Our equipment allows for dozens of different game settings, so games are often modified during ceasefires to better fit the group’s dynamic.

Some of the best games we hosted with outdoor laser tag are when a large group of 20 + participants wants to play. In this scenario we will break the large group into equal sized teams and create a march madness type tournament bracket. The length of the games is shortened and the teams battle it out to see which team remains standing at the end. This model has worked great for sports teams and other team building exercises. While two teams are duking it out, the other teams often watch and either heckle or cheer on their friends. This model of outdoor laser tag works best for groups between 15 and 50 people. If you are brainstorming activities for your team or large group, we would be happy to discuss outdoor laser tag options with you.
