The Washington DC, Virginia (VA) and Maryland (MD) metro region is full of parks! National parks, regional parks, community parks, neighborhood parks, state parks and county parks, are spread throughout the region for our local DC area residents to enjoy. Some parks offer destination adventures, hikes, playgrounds, and activities likes horseback riding, where other parks rent out slots for residents to host private parties. At Astro Jump we are familiar with many of the parks in the region and work with them regularly. Smaller parks are always harder to keep track of, but larger parks like the Northern Virginia Regional Parks, Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, Virginia and the Fairfax County parks are frequent stops for our teams.
At the Northern Virginia Regional parks only a handful of amusement companies, like Astro Jump, are permitted to do business. The park authority approves companies with a certain size inventory and insurance policy. Once approved they list us on their website as a possible vendor for customers renting out park space. There are over 30 parks in Northern Virginia that fall under the oversight of the Northern Virginia Regional Park authority (NVRPA). Not all of them offer space or are appropriate for a bounce house or moonbounce combo rental, but many are. We regularly work with customers at Bull Run, Algonkian, Cameron Run, and Pohick Bay regional parks. If you are planning an event at one of these parks, we might be able to help you add some extra fun to the event. When you do plan on bringing an inflatable or bounce house to your park event, it is important to ask if your park slot provides you with power. Every moonbounce rental regardless of size requires a dedicated power source. If your park slot does not provide power, we offer generators as well, but either way it is important to the success of your party for you and us to know the power available before the event day. Additionally, the NVRPA requires that a company attendant from Astro Jump be at your event to ensure proper use of the rentals. The Northern Virginia parks offer a huge variety of places for residents to host parties, so the next time you are looking for a good location for your party I suggest you check them out.
Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, VA is also a large park in the area we frequently visit for customer events. Fort Hunt Park is a national park. With large spaces available for rent we have done some very large events at Fort Hunt Park. If you are planning a large party or event, I recommend that you start with Fort Hunt Park. Once again very few amusement vendors are able to work at Fort Hunt Park. The Park’s insurance requirements are such that most small amusement rental companies and even many larger ones are disqualified from working directly with the park. Furthermore, the park has a number of Fort Hunt Park specific rules that amusement companies must follow when setting up for the event. When planning your event with inflatables at Fort Hunt Park, make sure to plan ahead in order to get your desired park space as well as to allow enough time to get the proper permitting done. Astro Jump can help you with all of this.
The Fairfax County parks are also frequent stops for Astro Jump’s delivery teams. Rules in Fairfax County parks tend to depend on the park, but like the NVRPA parks, you want to always check to make sure your reserved park slot accepts inflatables as well as provides power. As I mentioned earlier, generators are always an option, but if the park does provide power it can be a good way to save some money. Here is a link to some information regarding inflatables at the Fairfax County parks.
Sometimes it’s difficult to find the right park for your event. Before taking any of my suggestions I would start by looking locally to you. Google maps is the best place to start. Astro Jump also works with the Montgomery County parks as well as many community parks in Washington, DC. If you need further help narrowing it down you can call us at 703-339-8000 and we can try to make some suggestions for you. The hundred of parks in our DC metro area region provide plenty of options for you to host your event and bring inflatables.
