How Astro Jump Cleans a Moonbounce

July 1, 2014

With thousands of children every year making their way through moonbounces, it is important to have a cleaning system in place to keep our equipment in top shape. During the cleaning process we inspect the moonbounce (or other inflatable) to make sure it wasn’t damaged at the last event. If normal wear-and-tear has occurred most of the time we are able to fix the problem at our warehouse. Our system also allows us to keep our equipment in top shape. Without cleaning and inspecting our moonbounce rentals we would have a lot of very unhappy customers. Rightfully so! Sit tight and I will explain how our cleaning process works.

We set up moonbounces and other inflatables in a number of different types of locations. Backyards, front yards, cul-de-sacs, public parks, community land, and schools are probably the most popular locations. Depending on the season and surface on which the moonbounce is set any number of things can get inside the moonbounce during normal use. Leaves, grass, mulch and even mud are the most common.

When we receive the moonbounce rental back at our warehouse we make plans for cleaning it before the next rental. As long as the weather is nice outside and we can set everything up without it getting dirtier, this is not a problem. If you come by our warehouse in Springfield, Virginia on any given weekday during the warmer months you are likely to see everything from moonbounces to obstacle courses inflated outside for cleaning. On a nice weather day, we can clean a lot of moonbounces! If the weather is poor, we can only inflate one or two at a time inside our warehouse.

After the moonbounce has been blown up for cleaning our first step is to inspect it for any damages. Next we go inside with a vacuum and clean out anything left inside. After the moonbounce has been cleared of all foreign objects, we use a cleaner like Simple Green or a citrus based cleaner for dirtier bounces, to scrub and disinfect the bounce. We scrub the moonbounce inside and out to make sure it is in tip-top shape for the next rental. At this point, as long as it is dry (sometimes they come back to us wet), we will deflate and roll the moonbounce.

We make every effort to clean each piece before sending it out to the next customer. I can guarantee you that no company tries to send out clean moonbounces more than Astro Jump. Sometimes situations arise where it is impossible for us to clean the moonbounce or waterslide before the next rental. For example, if something is rented out on Saturday until late in the evening it will not make it back to our warehouse until close to midnight. Sometimes that same inflatable might be due at another party the following morning. In these situations we rely on our delivery drivers to make the bounce as nice as possible in the field. We equip each delivery driver with the same cleaners and rags we use in the shop in order to clean the moonbounce on the spot. Most of the time this works fine and customers are happy, but other times when a bounce is especially dirty our driver is unable to make it look new. We regret that these scenarios occur and wish that we could find a way around the problem.

We honestly do our very best to deliver the nicest inflatables in the DC, VA and MD areas. Our team works tirelessly during the hot summer months under the sun to make sure we bring you the nicest inflatable every time. No company in the moonbounce business will work harder to make you happy and to make your event excellent. Our thorough cleaning process is in place to make sure you always receive the nicest inflatable in town.

Your children’s safety is our # 1 priority and Astro Jump® has always taken extra steps to provide the cleanest equipment for your celebrations. In addition to our usual warehouse equipment scrubbing, we are disinfecting upon delivery and again at pick-up to protect your family and our wonderful employees.
