DC, VA and MD Moonbounce Parties in the Snow
This winter, and especially this past weekend, have brought up issues we have not had to deal with the in the moonbounce industry for the last several years. What should you do when a snowstorm gets in the way of your child’s moonbounce birthday party? First off, unless the roads are dangerously slick and icy, Astro Jump will show up at your party. We will not go by the school schedules and will instead make our own judgement as to how safe the roads are. A birthday party is important and we will do whatever we can to make sure that we are are not the reason to cancel the party. If we do call to cancel, it is because it is too dangerous for our drivers to be on the roads. Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC sometimes have severe winters like this one, but usually are quite mild and can even be relatively warm. Most of the time when a party cancels because of snow it is not because of Astro Jump. Usually our customers will call us and ask to reschedule themselves. If you are planning to have your party despite snow on the ground or in the forecast, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Renting an indoor moonbounce is always an option! If you have the space inside and don’t mind a dozen children screaming for a few hours, then choosing the indoor option is always the better idea. With an indoor moonbounce or moonbounce combo your child will still get to have their birthday party and the guests will stay warm and dry. Yes, it will be noisy in your house for a few hours, but heck, this is a birthday party! If you need ideas of indoor birthday party venues, please call us.
If you do not have the space inside for a moonbounce and can’t find another indoor location, then the option can still remain for you to have it outside as originally planned. In this circumstance, we would recommend requesting a tarp from us. We will use the tarp to cover the front part of the moonbounce where the children enter and exit. This will keep the inside of the bounce house and the children dry. Children can flow in and out of the moonbounce and as long as you keep everyone on the tarp or in the bounce house, everything should stay dry.
If we do have to set up in the snow, it is absolutely critical that we know of any hills or steps that we might have to climb with the moonbounce beforehand. The best case scenario is for you to choose the most easily accessible and flattest space possible. This will ensure that despite the snow, we will be able to deliver your moonbounce as planned. Also, if someone at your party is able to help our team during adverse conditions like snow, we would appreciate the hand.
No one wants for it to snow before their moonbounce party. If we can help you reschedule your party because of snow, please do not hesitate to ask. While we will be there at your snow day birthday party assuming it is safe for us to be on the roads, the snow makes it especially difficult for our team. We encourage people to work with us to reschedule their birthday party. If there is no other date that works for you and it is safe enough for us to be on the roads, then we will be there as promised. At no point will we ever leave you stranded waiting for the moonbounce man. If we are forced to cancel your party because of snow, we will communicate this with you before your party so that you can make other plans.
