Outdoor Laser Tag Drill Sergeants
Astro Jump’s outdoor laser tag division opened for business in 2011. Since then we have brought hundreds of customers laser tag events to birthday parties, school, and corporate functions throughout Washington DC, Virginia (VA), and Maryland (MD). Whether we’re running games for ten year old birthday parties in people’s backyards or entertaining an entire high school football team on their team retreat, our laser tag games work great for all groups. Part of this is due to our state-of-the-art laser tag equipment. With the nicest mobile laser tag equipment in DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland, guests are always stunned when they see our equipment. I want to talk about the equipment first, but most importantly I want to discuss our Astro Jump drill sergeants who run all of our custom laser tag games.
Our laser tag equipment is made by Adventure Sports HQ. At nearly $700 per tagger, each laser tagger weighs about 2lbs and is made from airplane grade aluminum. Each tagger comes with an extendable stock to adjust to the user’s size. On the top of the taggers are sensors to enhance game play as well as a red-dot site for aiming. Ever played Call of Duty, the video game? Yes, these taggers are similar to one of the weapons in this line of award winning video games, but don’t worry, they are toys and only flash light. The taggers are also programmed to offer a variety of different game play options–semi automatic, fully automatic, burst firing, one-shot high stakes play, and timed games are only a few of the options. When a player is tagged by an opponent their tagger makes a groaning noise and lights up to let them know to find cover. After getting tagged a pre-set number of times the taggers shout out “medic, medic, man down, man down” and the player’s game is over.
While the equipment Astro Jump Outdoor Laser Tag provides is top of the line, it is our drill sergeants who make the laser tag games such a fun experience. Anyone can rent you equipment, but adding a fun and trained event monitor (drill sergeants as we call them) to run your event is what makes Astro Jump’s laser tag so much fun. Depending on the age and skill level of the players our drill sergeants will customize games to make sure that everyone playing has fun and is not left behind in a game too advanced for them. Have a group of 7 years olds who know that they love laser tag but don’t really know what to do? Don’t worry, our drill sergeants are trained to teach even the youngest kids how to play laser tag in a fun and safe way. At the beginning of each laser tag party our drill sergeants program the taggers with their Master Tagger so that the game play can match the age of the players. If it’s a group of college students as part of a late night program we may play one tag and you’re out, whereas if there are ten 7 years olds we might give them unlimited lives.
